A Simple Coffee-Infused Mid-Summer Skin Care Routine
We’ve updated our brand to ensure that all of our products are coffee-infused. Each product targets a different problemed area, and together, they make a perfect daily facial routine. Here’s an easy 4 step skincare routine for you to try, and a few reasons why adding coffee extract will work wonders for your skin!
Cleanse Twice Everyday
Have a morning and night skincare ritual that begins with cleansing away the dirt, oil, and any makeup residue that may have built up. This is an important step to get rid of anything that can clog your pores, as that can easily lead to dull skin, breakouts and acne.
There are lots of different types of cleansers, from oil and water based mousses to cold creams and lotions - some use water, some are applied to dry skin. Make sure to choose the right cleanser for your skin type, so that you can clean your skin without stripping away the oils and moisture that your body needs. You can find a helpful guide to choosing your perfect cleanser here. Personally, we prefer a cleansing mousse, as the bubbles do a great job of lifting impurities from your skin. Dispense a few pumps of mousse into clean hands, then gently rub the face and neck in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly with cool water for best results, leaving your skin feeling completely clean and refreshed!
Adding just a hint of coffee extract to your cleanser will benefit your skin immensely. Green coffee seed extract (such as Coffea Arabica) is full of amazing ingredients including chlorogenic acid (CGA), fatty acids, vitamins, and of course, caffeine. Regularly using coffee in your cleanser can help to combat problems caused by harmful bacteria. The CGAs in coffee have both anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, meaning it can help in the fight against acne.
Remember, cleaning your pores will create the best base for the next steps of your routine. A clean base will allow any other products to be absorbed by your skin more easily.
Balance Your Complexion With A Toner
Toners are thin liquids which help to balance the skin’s pH levels, stopping it from becoming dry and dehydrated. They balance your complexion, and deliver an extra blast of nutrients to your face, which allow the next products in your routine to absorb better.
Apply your toner straight after cleansing, before you put on any other products. Most commonly, people add a few drops of toner to a cotton pad and gently pat their face and neck. A good tip to save more of your product (as you can lose a lot in the pad) is to apply it straight from clean hands. Pour a few drops into your palm and gently pat or rub it into your face. If you prefer, you could also pull apart a cotton pad so it’s not so thick before putting toner on it, New York City aesthetician Jordana Mattioli advises.
Using a toner with even a small amount of coffee extract can have very calming effects thanks to the rich antioxidants. The anti-inflammatory properties of CGA alongside the melanoidins in coffee can reduce any inflammation and hyperpigmentation in the skin. The caffeine also stimulates blood flow, widening or dilating the blood vessels. This can help the skin to naturally tighten, which may result in reducing the buildup of fluid under the eyes.
Choose the Best Serum For Your Skin Type
If you’re looking to improve your skin care routine with a product that offers a bigger, more powerful dose of active ingredients than a cleanser or moisturizer, a face serum may be the best choice. Designed to nourish, protect, and hydrate your skin, a face serum is a great next step after cleansing and toning, and before moisturizing.
When it comes to choosing a skin serum, it’s important to recognize that there are many different types (anti-aging serums, skin-brightening serums, hydrating serums, free-radical fighting serums, acne-prone and sensitive skin serums...), as well as specific ingredients to look for based on your goals.
gabi+skin’s coffee-infused facial hydrating serum has an extremely moisturizing formula with purifying geranium essential oil and 2% of green coffee seed extract that helps to detoxify and balance your skin. This serum absorbs quickly into the skin to provide hydrating relief to deeper tissues. Applying this soothing serum to clean skin in the morning and evening is recommended for the best hydration results.
Coffee infused serums are full of benefits. Known for being antioxidant-rich, coffee fights free radicals and prevents fine lines. It is a natural source of caffeine, which tones and soothes the skin.
Moisturizing Reduces The Chances Of Skin Problems
On top of everything else you need to do in the morning (and at night), moisturizing your skin can feel like another chore - so why do it? As it turns out, moisturizing doesn’t just feel great, it can help keep your skin clear, smooth, and wrinkle-free in the future. But make sure you’re choosing a moisturizer that works for your skin type (dry, oily...).
Set your skin up for success by moisturizing before you head out for the day and before you go to sleep. In a morning skin care routine, moisturizing should be the last step in your skin care routine before applying makeup, so don’t forget to use a face cream or lotion before applying your foundation or makeup primer, says dermatologist Anthony Rossi.
Using a hydrating lotion such as gabi+skin’s, that contains moisturizing oils, vitamins, and coffee extract will provide a protective layer and lock hydration into the skin. The coffee extract is extremely high in antioxidants which provides added protection against UV, wrinkles and loss of firmness. Nourishing your cells by making them plumper and more resilient, coffee also helps to increase circulation to the skin, giving you an even, bright complexion for the day ahead.
