We Plant Trees With Each Product Purchase — Here's How It Works

Why Do We Plant Trees?

Simply put, trees benefit the environment. They absorb carbon dioxide as they grow and the carbon that they store in their wood helps slow the rate of global warming. They reduce wind speeds and cool the air as they lose moisture and reflect heat upwards from their leaves. They protect erosion caused by wind and water, and prevent landslides. They support entire ecosystems of animal and insect life that we depend on for food and agriculture.

There are many actions we could take to give back to the environment, but planting trees is something we feel very passionate about because of their fundamental importance to fighting a warming planet and supporting wildlife.

We care deeply about our environment and we believe that giving back to it — even in small ways — is something we should do to ensure future generations have a healthy, natural world to enjoy.

How Does The Tree Planting Program Work?

We work with a company called GoodApi that has an official donation account with Eden Reforestation Projects, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization established in the United States. Every time a product is purchased on the official GABI+SKIN website, GoodApi keeps track of those purchases through an API (application programming interface) installed on our site. At the end of each month, we pay for the total number of trees we have committed to — a tree for every product purchased.

Who Actually Plants The Trees?

Eden Reforestation Projects works with local communities to restore forests on a massive scale, thereby creating jobs, protecting ecosystems and helping mitigate climate change. At the time of writing this article, Eden has 830 million+ trees produced, planted, and protected, 249 project sites in ten countries, and 11,500+ employees empowered with fair wages.
